Damascus M.B.C. Scholarship

The Damascus Missionary Baptist Church (DMBC) is proud to announce that it will award an academic scholarship to a high school graduate.  DMBC is living up to the theme “A mind is a terrible thing to waste” by giving a portion of the proceeds to help our upcoming generation prepare for the future.  A $1000.00 scholarship will be awarded, during our annual baccalaureate program to a graduate who meets the following requirements listed below. The Scholarship check will be mailed to the University or College of their choice. The scholarship may be used for tuition, books, fees, and room and board.  The selection committee will consist of 3-5 persons who are active members of Damascus.  This is a one-time scholarship.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Be an active member in good standing of DMBC.

 

  1. Be a graduating high-school senior.

 

  1. Enrolled slated for a United States accredited college, university, Vocational school, two-year College or school of Theology.

 

  1. Have a high school grade point average of 2.50 or above on a 4.0 scale.

 

RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS:

 

  1. Submit a completed application to the DMBC, received or postmarked by May 14, 2018.

 

  1.  Be enrolled in any U.S. accredited college or university as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 hours per semester to receive scholarship payment.

 

  1. If for any reason, recipient fails to enroll for the minimum number of credit hours at an accredited college or university, vocational school, community college or junior college for the fall term of the year of graduation and he/she drops out of school, the money will be refunded to DMBC.

 

  1. Two letters of reference, not a relative.  Letter should include but not limited to, character traits, attitude of applicant.

Irene Wilson Graham Supplemental Book Scholarship Application

 

 

The Damascus Missionary Baptist Church is proud to announce that it will award an Irene Wilson Graham Supplemental Book Scholarship to college or vocational students who are currently enrolled for the Fall Semester 2018 or Spring Semester 2019.  On behalf of the Graham Family, Damascus if living up to the theme, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”, by giving a portion of the proceeds to help our upcoming generation prepare for the future.  The scholarship will be given to each student in the amount of $150.00 for the purchase of books.  The scholarship will be sent directly to the school the recipient will be attending.  The Damascus Scholarship Committee will select the recipient and the recipient will be acknowledged in front of the church at a designated time.

 

Purpose: The scholarship is to provide financial assistance for books to first year Damascus students attending an accredited college or vocational school.

 

Source of Funding: The Graham Family provided revolving fund of $1,200.00 to be used as seed money.

 

ELIGILIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Student must be a member of Damascus M. B. Church

  2. Student must be enrolled in an accredited college or vocational school.

  3. Student must provide proof of enrollment.

  4. Funds of $150.00 will be provided for the first year of school only.

  5. Must have maintained a “C” average in High School and College or a 2.00 or above on 4.0 scale.

  6. Book invoice stipulating cost will be provided.

 

RECIPIENT REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Submit a completed and signed application to the Damascus Missionary Baptist Church before the first week of school.

  2. If for any reason, recipient withdraws prior to the completion of the semester, scholarship will be repaid in full to Irene Wilson Graham Supplemental Book Scholarship Fund.
